One morning in November 2011, while enjoying a spell of limited sleep following the birth of our youngest, the light shining through the bedroom window was particularly gentle. The two-week old boy lay resting on his mum and I grabbed the camera and took a single shot, probably afraid to waken him while we made the most of the peacefulness.
In hindsight, I could have got away with taking a few more, but luckily this one seemed to capture the moment perfectly – one of those moments in the life of a newborn where all is still and the complete joy of sharing it washes over you.
