I am a self-taught photographer. Trial and error throughout the film era, then reluctantly embracing, and finally revelling in the digital revolution has been my classroom.
The majority of my work is used on the websites I have created, for friend’s weddings, for fun and in print media at my last job, where I became the photographer in residence (even though that was not my primary role).
I most enjoy taking photographs of my family, wildlife, landscapes and at music festivals.
I’ve been taking photographs since the early 1980s as a teenager with a Fujica STX-1 given to me by my parents as a birthday present.
That later became an East German Praktica MTL-5 as a replacement when sand put paid to the Fujica.
After a break for university, travel, the world of employment and lots of point and shoot compact cameras, I returned to the SLR with a fantastic Contax Aria and a couple of Carl Zeiss lenses.
Finally, I invested in a Canon EOS 20D in 2006. This remains my trusty workhorse along with a couple of prime Canon lenses.
